I started CrossFit in June of 2014. I have always been that girl trying to lose those last 10lbs and participated in long distance running, gym workouts and hot yoga… But I felt that if I had a bad week and didn’t attend, who would know if I didn’t go? I knew something was missing to keep me motivated, maybe accountability, maybe the lack of results. I heard about CrossFit a year prior to joining, but never did anything about it. After speaking to a few friends, I decided to try it out.
When I got to Ruination, it scared me. I could tell there were amazing athletes there, bars and weights I was not familiar with, but something about it intrigued me.
Ruination has a sense of community that I have never experienced before. Coaches that don’t give up on you even at the moment when you want to give up on yourself. They have created something larger than just a place to get fit, but a group of people and coaches that all want you to succeed. Perhaps this community is grown by individual challenges all working towards the same goals.
Only six months in, I have lost 12 pounds, weighing in at 123 lbs! My strength and confidence is immeasurable from where I started. This experience thus far has changed my outlook on food, friends and fitness.
If you are willing to go the distance, I promise you’ll have everyone cheering you on. You will obtain the results you desire and you will surprise yourself. There is no greater gift for your mind, body and spirit.
